straws

Benson went this morning and got tubes (or 'straws' as Bailey says) put in his ears. He has had 6 ear infections since last October. When I took him to the ENT two weeks ago, he flunked one of his hearing tests because of all the fluid in his ears. We are guessing these ear problems are also the reason for him not sleeping at night. The procedure was really fast. They had to put him 'under,' but from the time the nurse took him until we could go see him again, was literally less than 20 minutes. He was SO sad/mad when he woke up from the anesthesia. After I nursed him, got all the wires off of him and we got out of the recovery room, he was pretty much back to himself. The hospital where we had it done requires the patient to be wheeled out in a wheel chair, so I had to sit in the wheel chair with Benson on my lap. He thought it was really fun. We took him home and he took a big nap and seems back to normal. Hopefully this will be the miracle we've been praying for.

The funniest part of it all (besides the baby hospital gown they made him wear) was they brought us his binky out in a "BIO HAZARD" bag! (They let him take his lovies in with him for the surgery.)

it's good to be grand....

My parents came to visit us last week and we had SO MUCH fun! It had been EIGHT long months since we'd seen them! Bailey was so excited for them to come, it was better than Christmas. We went to the Johnson Space Center (NASA) on Monday, and just played and shopped and 'hung-out' the rest of the week. We dined on Tex-Mex, and BBQ (it's TEXAS, after all!) It was so fun and so good to see them. I think they will need another vacation when they get home to recover from all the 'work' my kids had them do....
...like hanging out with Papa....
Benson took right to Papa Leseberg and they became best buds. They are both early risers so they had ample time together, just the two of them. Papa and Benz also hung out a lot while my Mom, Bailey, and I did 'chick things' (shopping).
....like being a 'Love Slave'...
That's what we call Guh. She'll pretty much do anything Bailey asks her to. They spent lots of time together playing "Puppy," coloring, watching movies, and hanging out. I don't think Bailey left Guh's side the whole week, except maybe when she was playing with Papa and conning him into getting doughnuts. We had so much fun, and were so sad to see them go back home. Luckily we'll see them again in July!

trophy girl

I've been trying to get this picture posted for a couple of days but keep getting side tracked. Mostly by a little boy who will NOT sleep. He's been waking up/ staying up all night lately. The last couple of nights he's been up until 2:00am SCREAMING, and then wakes up an hour later and SCREAMS for another hour. My best sleep comes between 5 & 7:00 am. I've tried everything. He still has "a considerable amount of fluid behind his eardrum," and we finally got a referall to an E.N.T. (ear/nose/throat dr.). I'm guessing that's what is keeping him (and me!) from sleeping. Thank-you to my s.i.l., Becky, and m.i.l., Olivia (aka: The WARDEN) who regularly kidnap Bailey so she can have some fun, and her cranky, zombie Mom can catch-up on sleep. I OWE you BIG! "Mama Loo" is going to come 'kidnap' yours someday soon.
I digress...
Bailey finished out her season of T-Ball and got a 'really big' trophy. She was the only girl on the team, and they all LOVED her. Her Coach (seen in picture) just adores her (but not in a creepy way) and they all have little crushes on her. She was pretty excited Saturday to go to a birthday party and her team party. She told me that she was "so excited, my tummy feels crazy!" How cute!
PS: It was nearly 80 degrees today with 80% humidity! ugh.
